Lin Yi entered like a fish returning to water, relaxed and comfortable. The smile on his face was big and bright, as brilliant as the sun in the sky… no, even the sun couldn’t compare. Pei Xuanqing restrained the countless emotions surging in his eyes, sat cross-legged on the spot, and responded, “I have gained some insight from the fight just now. I will wash after I reflect.”

In the water, Lin Yi watched, dumbfounded, as he really closed his eyes and started meditating. Seeing such clear water after having been covered all over in grime, he actually thought to meditate for comprehension rather than wash up first? Was Pei Xuanqing’s dedication too strong? After watching for a moment and determining that Pei Xuanqing really wasn’t planning on washing up right now, Lin Yi could only give up.

Although the pool wasn’t very large, the water was clear and sweet. Lin Yi quickly washed up, swimming back and forth in the pool, only to find that the bottom of the pool actually had fish. Each one looked plump and tender, just a glance enough to make people salivate. He immediately swam to the bottom of the pool without hesitation and caught five of them. After scaring the fish witless at the bottom of the pool, he went ashore, dried his body, and dressed in clean clothes. Seeing that Pei Xuanqing was still sitting in meditation with his eyes closed, he used a slender plant stalk to string up the fish and prep them downstream.

When he finished handling the fish and walked back, he saw that Pei Xuanqing had already finished meditating and was washing in the pool.

Lin Yi’s feet paused. Pei Xuanqing in the water had broad shoulders and a narrow waist, his broad chest well-proportioned and sturdy; every inch was just right and full of power. Compared to his own white and delicate body, Pei Xuanqing’s figure seemed to be perfectly carved……

Pei Xuanqing, who was in the middle of washing, suddenly looked up at him.

Lin Yi’s heart jittered all of a sudden. He had always felt that Pei Xuanqing’s eyes were deep enough to suck someone in.

Cough. I caught some fish. They can be roasted for dinner later.” To conceal the strange feeling in his heart, Lin Yi raised the fish strung together with plant stems in his hand.

“Okay,” Pei Xuanqing answered with nothing more than a calm tone.

“Then take your time washing. I’ll go find Pei Qi and Pharmacist Fang first.”

Lin Yi, with inexplicably hot cheeks, ran away at flying speeds after he finished speaking. He ran fast, aware of Pei Xuanqing staring after his back figure.

……

Sizi……

As soon as the aroma of the grilled fish wafted out, even Pei Qi and Pharmacist Fang couldn’t help but swallow their saliva.

After washing, Pei Xuanqing changed into new clothes, his imposing demeanor now restrained. His figure was as tall and straight as a pine, and every move he made showed the calmness and grace of a young master.

Lin Yi took one glance and withdrew his gaze, concentrating on grilling his fish. The flames of the grilled fish reflected his bright red cheek.

Pei Xuanqing paused for a moment, walked over, and squatted down next to him, “I’ll do it.”

As soon as he got close, what Lin Yi’s nose smelled, besides the aroma of the roasted fish, there was also a particularly refreshing light fragrance that emanated from Pei Xuanqing’s clothes. As the Eldest Grandson of the Pei Family, Pei Xuanqing’s clothing, food, housing, and transportation were all exquisite; even the clothes he wore were carefully prepared. This faint fragrance was roasted by the blazing flames, turning into wisps of warm aroma, drilling straight into Lin Yi’s nose. Obviously, the scent of the roasted fish was very fragrant, but Lin Yi felt that Pei Xuanqing smelled better.

“You sit to the side. It’s smoky; it’ll get on your clothes.”

“It’s alright.”

Pei Xuanqing insisted so Lin Yi could only share one of the branches in his hand with him, “Then you roast this one.”

After taking it, Pei Xuanqing followed Lin Yi’s example and sat directly on the ground. Such a thing wasn’t elegant, but once he did it, it didn’t seem strange at all, almost as if it was only natural. Moreover, he learned very quickly, albeit a bit rustily; however, in just a moment, he became a skilled roasted fish expert. After it was roasted, although Lin Yi didn’t want to admit it, he had to recognize that Pei Xuanqing’s roasted fish was roasted better than his own.

“Alright,” Pei Xuanqing handed the grilled fish to Lin Yi, who swallowed his saliva. Just as he was about to say that he didn’t need it, Pei Xuanqing had taken the lead in exchanging his grilled fish with Lin Yi’s. “Eat it.”

Smelling the aroma of the fish, Lin Yi could no longer help himself and resolutely took a bite of the fish meat. His eyes lit up, and he could not hold back an exclamation, “Mm!”

Fragrant and tender, with spiritual energy fused into it, it was a supreme enjoyment to eat!

Pei Xuanqing watched with a smile flashing in his eyes as Lin Yi indulged in the meal before starting to eat the fish Lin Yi roasted.

With five fish, fragrant and tender, the extra one of which went into Lin Yi’s stomach, the four of them ate with great satisfaction.

Lin Yi propped himself with his arms behind him and let out a satisfied burp, asking, “Are we still going to continue killing demon beasts?”

Pei Xuanqing answered, “Continue killing. There’s still time before the Ten Cities Tournament, so before that, the Demon Beast Forest is the best training ground. After resting, I’ll show you the third step of the footwork and teach you a few moves to use against enemies. For the next few days, I’ll teach you a few moves every day. By the time we leave the Demon Beast Forest, you should be able to memorize all of these moves. Even though you are only at the first-stage of the Spiritualist Realm, if you get the chance during the Ten Cities Tournament, you can also go on the field and try it out.”

Lin Yi was so happy that he nearly jumped up. He didn’t expect Pei Xuanqing to teach him footwork, much less martial arts. It was simply an unexpected delight as he excitedly exclaimed, “Don’t worry! I will learn seriously!”

……

Pei Xuanqing spent a day teaching Lin Yi the third step of the footwork and several battle moves.

If Lin Yi hadn’t killed any demonic beasts these days, he wouldn’t have been able to comprehend the moves Pei Xuanqing had taught him so quickly. However, the battles he has been fighting for these past few days had already opened the door to success, and he had already learned it as soon as Pei Xuanqing taught it.

“Young Master, we have killed almost all of the low-stage demon beasts in the area. Should we go further in?” Pei Qi asked.

“That’s fine.” Pei Xuanqing nodded and then said to Lin Yi, “We mustn’t separate too far if we go inwards. Remember not to forget the dangers around us for the sake of chasing demon beasts.”

Lin Yi nodded, “I’ll remember.”

The party of four moved further in, killing several demon beasts on the way.

As they killed, they discovered something strange. Quite a number of demon beasts were rushing toward them from the same direction, but it wasn’t like they were coming specifically to target them. Instead, it was more like they were chased out from behind.

Pei Qi went to investigate and returned. “Young Master, it’s snakes. Many snakes are coming towards us, a majority being normal snakes, a few first-order Red-Tailed Snakes, and Bright-Ringed Snakes. Most of them are venomous. The demon beasts we encountered along the way were fleeing for fear of being caught up in those snakes.”

Among them, Pei Qi was a cultivator in the Spiritual General Realm, and Pharmacist Fang carried with him medicine that was able to expel venomous snakes and insects. They were not scared of the snakes, but what was strange was that they were coming out in groups.

“It should be the snakes from the Valley of Ten Thousand Snakes. The valley is not far from here. Judging by the commotion, something they fear must have entered the valley and drove them out.” Pei Qi surmised.

After thinking to himself for a moment, Pharmacist Fang said, “I remember there is a third-level spiritual medicine called the Seven Sections Herb in the Valley of Ten Thousand Snakes. If you can get the saliva of the Snake King to raise it, it can be grown into a fourth-level Seven Sections Herb. This herb is a detoxifying herb for spiritual medicines and can relieve a majority of toxins. If someone is driving away the snakes in the Valley of Ten Thousand Snakes, it’s most likely for the sake of getting the Seven Sections Herb.”

As soon as Pharmacist Fang mentioned the Seven Sections Herb, information related to Seven Sections Herb immediately surfaced in Lin Yi’s mind. Apart from what Pharmacist Fang had said, the Seven Sections Herb, particularly a fourth-level Seven Sections Herb, was a treasure used by the Snake King to advance. The Seven Sections Herb was like bamboo, growing one section at a time. The Snake King raises the selected Seven Sections Herb with its own saliva, so when the seventh segment grows, it will become its treasure for advancement. For the Snake King, the fourth-level Seven Sections Herb was the key to getting rid of the shackles of its bloodline and ascending to the level of mutation. It will definitely not allow it to be taken away by anyone, so whoever wants to snatch the fourth-level Seven Sections Herb from its hand is its mortal enemy, and it will fight to the death for it.

But since the snakes in the Ten Thousand Snake Valley had all been expelled, the people who entered the valley were likely to have high cultivation and carry snake-repellent medicine.

Lin Yi looked towards Pei Xuanqing, wanting to see what he planned to do.

“Our goal is not to enter the Valley of Ten Thousand Snakes, and we have no need to conflict with those who entered. There’s no need to wade through muddy waters, so we’ll bypass the Valley of Ten Thousand Snakes.” Pei Xuanqing said.

Lin Yi had no objection to this. He had the lowest cultivation among the four, so naturally, he would do whatever the others said. Besides, the whole valley was full of snakes, and just thinking about it made his scalp numb.

However, even if they took the initiative to avoid the Valley of Ten Thousand Snakes, they couldn’t prevent the people coming out of it——

“Congratulations to Young Master Le for obtaining the fourth-level Seven Sections Herb.”

Lin Yi had just finished killing a first-order Rhinoceros and was sitting on the ground watching Pei Xuanqing kill a second-order White Ape. This White Ape was more intelligent than the other second-order demon beasts and was unintimidated by Pei Xuanqing’s aura. It had been cunningly circling around with Pei Xuanqing, occasionally launching surprise attacks. Seeing Pei Xuanqing unable to react, its gaze showed a hint of mockery without any courtesy. If it could speak, it would have been spouting a mouthful of ridicule by now with a wicked attitude. Lin Yi felt this White Ape was particularly annoying, hoping that Pei Xuanqing would give it a harsh lesson.

While watching the excitement, he heard a voice he knew very well. He would remember the voice of his enemy even if he turned to dust.

“Lin Ying?”

Lin Yi immediately bounced up from the ground and looked in the direction the voice came from.

Pei Qi also looked over, furrowing his brows. “Indeed, it is the Lin Family. But it’s not just them, but also a……Spiritual General Realm?”

……

Lin Ying and other disciples of the Lin Family accompanied Le Zhangjia and his entourage, having just come from the Valley of Ten Thousand Snakes. They had just killed the Snake King and obtained the Seven Sections Herb. Coincidently, the fourth-level Seven Sections Herb had just grown, but before the Snake King could consume it, it had ended up in their hands. Lin Ying felt very proud in her heart, thinking that it was all the credit of their Lin Family for leading the team, so she slightly raised her head in front of Le Zhangjia.

“Young Master Le, are you trying to save someone? If you need it, just ask. Our Lin Family has the most pharmacists without a doubt, and our Patriarch’s ability is also ranked amongst the best in the entire Woyun City.” Wang Zhonghe said, with the other disciples of the Lin Family also looking at Le Zhangjia.

Le Zhangjia seemed indifferent to Wang Zhonghe’s words, answering, “I naturally know the reputation of the Lin Family pharmacists, but I have another use for this Seven Sections Herb, so I won’t bother you.”

It was the second time Wang Zhonghe had tried to speak in front of Le Zhangjia but was once again rebuffed, his expression becoming somewhat embarrassed.

Translator’s Note

And it’s once again been a while, much longer than last time. Basically, I got sick again and had a long lapse of no motivation. On that note, I will be going through my first move soon and my second move in mid-May. During my first move, I may not have access to my PC at all, but here is to hoping. If I don’t have access to my PC, I’ll will be unable to update until after my second move. However, after I’ve moved and settled down, I should be able to get back to my regular updates.

Either way, I apologize for the lack of updates during this time. I hope everyone has had a good few weeks; see you all again, hopefully soon.
